About Salt n Fish — Filipino Market & Kitchen in New Port Richey, FL

Salt n Fish is a Filipino market and kitchen in New Port Richey, FL, serving the greater Tampa Bay area — and the story behind it is as layered as our halo-halo.

A Family Dream, Years in the Making

My name is Chris, and my wife Maria grew up in the Philippines before making the move to America in the 1990s. We've spent our lives together building something we believed in — and Salt n Fish is the best version of that dream. We first tried to open this business in 2016, but the timing just wasn't right. We didn't give up. In 2020, during COVID, we launched Salt n Fish at local farmers markets — selling fresh and all-natural smoked fish that people absolutely loved. Our smoked fish became a staple for regulars who came back week after week. That loyal community gave us the confidence to take the next step.

New Port Richey's Home for Filipino Food

In 2025, we opened our permanent home right here in New Port Richey — and with a real kitchen came the full Filipino experience: hand-rolled lumpia, halo-halo, palabok, boba, and a sari-sari pantry stocked with the flavors Maria grew up with. We chose New Port Richey because it sits right in the heart of our community — easy to reach whether you're coming from Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Hudson, or Port Richey. It's also 15 minutes from our house. This isn't a franchise or an investment property. It's our neighborhood too.

The Meaning Behind the Name

Salt n Fish isn't a random name. It comes from our faith. The Bible calls us to be the salt of the earth and fishers of men — to bring flavor, to nourish, to draw people in. That's exactly what we try to do, one plate at a time.

Cooked From Scratch. Made With Love.

Maria cooks the way she grew up eating — from scratch, with care, without shortcuts. Whether you're Filipino and craving a taste of home, or you've never tried Filipino food in your life, you'll find something at Salt n Fish that feels like it was made for you.

Because it was.

Welcome to Salt n Fish — your Filipino kitchen in New Port Richey. Mabuhay.
